Entry Gate
Gate Operation
The Wilderness entry gate is locked in the overnight hours. The gate may be opened by remote or by entering the current code into the keypad. Please report any malfunctions to the Board as soon as possible.
Gate Code
The code is changed periodically and the new one will be emailed to you. You may program your own car's opener function to use the code. Feel free to share the code with your relatives and visitors that may be arriving after the gate closes.
Remote Gate Openers
The Wilderness Office offers pre-programmed remote openers for purchase by property owners. The advantage to using our remote is that it does not have to be reset each time the gate code is changed.
Gate Clearance
If you are expecting an oversized delivery, please be aware that the clearance is 13'9".
Road Use
Weight & Size Restrictions

Box trucks, or those typically used by delivery services such as FedEx or UPS, generally cause no problems with our road surfaces. Dump trucks, 18-wheelers, and any other vehicles carrying extremely heavy loads, however, require a Road Use Permit that can be found on the "Forms" page

Dumpsters
The dumpsters, along with the burn and compost piles, are provided for the benefit of property owners only. Normal household waste may be placed in the dumpsters. They are emptied weekly. No items may be placed next to the dumpsters - everything must be placed inside.
Burn Pile
Dispose of plant and brush debris, cardboard boxes, and wood in the Burn Pile in the field at the south end of the trailer area. The pile is periodically burned by the Southern Oaks Volunteer Fire Department as a training drill. please pile debris as close to center as possible and NOT beyond the perimeter berm. No metal, rocks, stones , plastic, construction debris etc. allowed in burn pile.
Compost Pile
Leaves are plentiful in the fall and present a danger in terms of fuel for wildfires. You are encouraged to dump loose leaves (no plastic bags) into the compost pile along the eastern fence line in the trailer area. As they decompose, they provide a source of compost materials which you are welcome to take for your flower beds.
Large Item Disposal
Appliances, furniture, mattresses and other oversized items are not welcome in the dumpsters or in the Burn Pile. These items may be taken to the Streetman Solid Waste Transfer Point. Click Button below for more information.
Recycling
The Wilderness is not currently able to offer recycling onsite. Fairfield High School (631 Post Oak Rd.) usually accepts paper, cardboard, plastic and cans on the 3rd Saturday morning of each month, between 8:30 and 10:30 am.
Prohibited Items
Construction waste and oversized items are not allowed in the dumpsters.
Prohibited items in the Burn Pile include plastic, chemicals, fertilizer, glass, and metal. These items produce toxic fumes when burned (causing danger for fire fighters and residents) or they do not burn at all.
